So the Batman Begins trailer is a little underwhelming once you're (I'm) over the fact that it's Batman. Here's another trailer I don't think will: hey, terrorist! Terrorize this!

On to other business: last night was MathSoc EOT. There was a lot of good food, thanks especially to Raymond and Mark Toivanen for making the main bits. Afterwards we went to Bomber for a AHS/Engineering/Math/Science dealie. There were more people than they expected, and even had to call in another bartender, which happened around when I got in line for my last drink (third drink, I didn't have that much money on me). That also means my time in line wasn't that long. There was a good DJ that night, not, "here's a song you like... for thirty seconds! Moo ha ha!", which is one of the things that pisses me off about Bomber Wednesday. I enjoyed myself there.

Then I came home and went to bed. Studying today; AI and Algorithms next Wednesday. Um, hurray?

A comic book movie news story, but oh-so-much more than that.

I am a Buffalo Bills fan. Thus, I hate the Miami Dolphins. Which is why Ricky Williams is now my favorite running back.

"Boo Mark! I don't wanna hear about football!"

I'm sitting here, feeling old and tired. I been sick since I got up on the 17th, although that'll prolly be gone soon. Right now, I just can't hit high notes is all - not that I could before, just that now my voice cracks. You shoulda heard me last Sunday, where my voice had been destroyed in no small part due to Summerfest.

It occurs to me that this week is the end of a lot of stuff for me. It could very well be my last week of CS classes - big deal for me, the CS major (although Alison wants me to take Distributed so she'll have someone to work with). It'll be my last Movie Night as Movies Director for MathSoc, come Hell or High Water. And it'll be free, so you've got no excuse to skip out on my bittersweet good-bye to my directorship, because as far as I'm concerned, there's no such thing as night class on Thursdays. (The Bourne Identity and Hellboy, not that it matters... SHOW UP!) I'll be saying good-bye to some people I'm not going to see near enough during exams, plus some people I haven't seen enough all term.

Off topic: My brother's MSN name is "Julio: Expert Florist". Is there something he's not telling me?

So will this week live up to what an ending ought to be? I don't know. I don't even think I want it to. There's so many things that I don't want to end or will, at the very least, miss very much...

Because I would be remiss in not mentioning it, considering how I seem to be spending most of my time right now: hello video game football marketshare.

Also, because I am, at heart, a geek, regardless of whatever else I am, I give you this.

Saw The Bourne Supremacy last night. It was a good movie, greatness robbed from it by an overdependence on handheld camera shots. Was with Sri and Krissy, Sri agreed with me; and the motion caused by the camera seemed to make Krissy feel too ill to have any real thoughts about it. Hah. Crazy kids. Except they were in residence with me, so they're about the same age as me. REGARDLESS! Crazy kids.

There were times in the movie where we saw Matt Damon, and I thought, "boy, he looks old." His IMDB entry says he'll be turning 34 in October. He looks far older in this... but then, in his Eurotrip cameo he's almost unrecognizable as young generic punk-like lead singer. Regardless of whether his impending mortality is natural or not, he's clearly a hell of an actor. I'm not sure we can say the same for his buddy Ben.

I'm also working my way through the book. The "Suggested by Isaac Asimov" credit at the end of I, Robot (aka Generic Will Smith Action Movie #446)? More appropriate here for Supremacy. I'm about a third of the way through it, and there's even less resemblance than The Bourne Identity had with the book it was based on. Europe != China.

I'm thinking. I'm a slow thinker.

I love this.

My internet connection at home is wonky during the day. Which is EXTREMELY odd, since it's not peak hours. Maybe the construction? I dunno.

...and I'm single again. That would seem to merit a mention.

Good news and Bad news. I can only hope Catwoman bombs so they do something more like Spider-man for Green Lantern.

What else? I was at Summerfest 2 tonight. Saw lots of people. Cressa and Alison can ask Jenna if they don't believe me. Poopy heads. Also, I'm in a picture Dave Zoltok took, so there may be photographic evidence at some point in the future - but not yet. Also lots of people from residence I haven't seen in ages. So yay East D 2000-2001!

And I'm done. Sleeeeep.

So this is cool for the Star Trek: TNG fans out there. This is also where I start pimping The Global Frequency - it's hella good and the first collection is sitting on my bookshelf for anyone who wants to borrow it. Read it!

I'm in class. SSHHHH!

I hate it when one essay topic isn't working, so the night before it's due I change topics and one of the two books. Sigh. I may have to hand it in a day late >:(

And I'll be waiting with baited breath.

Happy birthday Lynn! Yay!

My goddamn rock solid ghetto shiznit name is Wankmaster Wack.

Optimus Prime was a possibility. Obviously, I'm not him. And you can bite my shiny metal ass.

I saw this on Kaitlyn Holman's website, to which I can't remember the URL despite the fact I was just there (edit 4:03 PM the next day: Here it is):
Chunder Monkey
What Kind of Drunk Are You?

I felt it was appropriate for this current juncture.

New Scientist - so what does this mean for mankind? Who cares? It's all about reading simian minds!

This is brilliant.

Globetechnology - Cool.

Lost Causes clarification (post-James yelling): if you want in, ask me. There's no excuse now, you can comment and do it. Right now. Come on.

Sunday, July 04, 2004

It's pouring rain. Thank god; it was so hot in here.

Is that a Lost Causes update? I think it is. A very small one. Wherein I satisfy two appearance requests, one long standing, one not so much. The formatting is messed up now, but whatever. The fonts below make it look better - in fact, they always did, but no one other than me knew. Hopefully I'll be writing more. Failing that, I'll be doing schoolwork. Hah. Right.
